The compact depot forms the entrance to an 8,500 m² riverside site, acting—despite its restraint—as a clear point of orientation. Resting on the flat terrain, the dark, almost seamless monolith follows the property boundaries and setback lines, resulting in a crystalline plan. Its slanted wall planes direct views and movement toward the site and align precisely with the entrance gate of the adjacent storage hall.
Inside, a column-free steel frame provides generous, flexible areas for the storage of artworks and sensitive materials. Externally, dark-pigmented aerated concrete panels wrap the structure in a robust, large-scale skin whose calm tectonic presence lends clarity to the building’s technical function. Durable and protective, the material gives the structure a subtle, geological quality—like a rock by the river that defines and grounds the site without dominating it.
Architecturally, the building follows a logic of reduction and precision: omission instead of display, focus on volume, junction, and access. The result is a storage building that meets high standards of security and climate control while achieving its own quiet spatial and material expression.
